Linacre Ladies in Competitions

UNIVERSITY COMPETITIONS

2024 Oxford University Strengthlifting Competition
In this competition between three University powerlifting Clubs in February 2024, Linacre won first place overall, with LLtL’s Isabel de Berrié winning Best Lifter and LLtL’s Charlotte Ball winning the award for Most Heart for her persistence to victory in the overhead press.

2023 Oxford University Strengthlifting Competition
In this competition between three University powerlifting Clubs in March 2023, Linacre won first place overall, and LLtL’s Isabel de Berrié was the strongest lifter.

NATIONAL COMPETITIONS

2024 National BDFPA Full Power Championships

Isabel de Berrié won Gold in the under-58.5kg bodyweight category, and Catherine Walter won Gold in the Masters 8 under-58.5kg category. Both qualified for World Full Power Championships.

2023 National BDFPA Full Power Championships

Carolyn Ten Holter achieved a personal best 85kg squat in the open under-70 kg bodyweight category. Catherine Walter, in her first big competition post Long Covid in the M8 under-58.5kg category, qualified for World Full Power

2023 BDFPA All-England Full Power Championships

Isabel de Berrié won gold in the under-58.5kg bodyweight category (Open category)

2019 National BDFPA Full Power Championships

Five Linacre Ladies that Lift and three Wadham Women Weightlifters competing under the Linacre banner competed in the 2019 BDFPA Full Power Championships in Edinburgh. We returned to Oxford with:

  • One Bronze: Catriona Robinson, Teen 3, under-70kg bodyweight
  • Four Silvers:
    • Brandi Simpson-Miller, Masters 2, under-80kg
    • Jennifer Gooden, Masters 1, under-70kg
    • Evie Fleck, Teen 3, under-63kg
    • Ruth Harris, Teen 3, under-70kg
  • One gold: Catherine Walter, Masters 7, under-58.5kg. Catherine also won the Best Female Masters trophy.

2018 British (BDFPA) Full Power Championships

In 2018, nine Linacre Ladies qualified for British Drug-Free Powerlifting Association National Full Power Championships, and seven won places on the podium (College, age category, bodyweight category, award):

  • Lina Girdvainyte (LMH), Open category, under-53kg bodyweight, Bronze
  • Isabel Stoppani de Berrié (Wolfson), Open, under-58.5kg, not placed
  • Professor Therese Hopfenbeck (Kellogg), Masters 2, under-55.5kg, Gold
  • Dr Catherine Walter (Linacre), Masters 7, under-58.5kg, Gold
  • Brandi Simpson-Miller (Linacre), Masters 2, under-80kg, Silver
  • Andreea Antuca (Linacre), Open, under-63kg, not placed
  • Polly Thisdell (Wadham), Junior, under-50.5kg, Gold
  • Jessica Gillard (Wadham), Junior, under-63kg, Silver

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS

2019 World WDFPF Full Power Championships

Jennifer Gooden and Catherine Walter competed in the WDFPF World Powerlifting Championships in Halle, Germany. Jen won gold in the Masters 1 under-70kg category, and Catherine won gold in the Masters 7 under-58.5kg category, and was the Best Female Masters lifter.

2018 World (WDFPF) Full Power Championships

In 2018, five Linacre Ladies competed in the World Championships, gaining four golds and a silver in their categories.

  • Polly Thisdell, under-50.5kg bodyweight, Junior Gold
  • Catherine Walter under-58.5kg, Masters 7 Gold
  • Lina Girdvainyte, under-53kg, Open Silver
  • Therese Hopfenbeck, under-55.5kg, Masters 2 Gold
  • Eva Masmanian under-63kg, Junior Gold.
